Fayssoux
If you’ve not heard of Fayssoux McLean, it’s a good bet you’ve heard her. Fayssoux’s voice was an integral element in some of the finest country music recordings of the 20th century. She sang duet vocals on Emmylou Harris’ versions of “Green Rolling Hills” and “Spanish Is A Loving Tongue”. Fayssoux’s harmonies grace the Emmylou classics “Bluebird Wine”, “Too Far Gone”, “Satan’s Jewel Crown”, “Till I Gain Control Again”, “One Of These Days” and, most recently, the Grammy-winning “The Connection”. Given that Emmylou Harris is herself the single greatest and most consequential harmony vocalist in country music history, Fayssoux’s role as Emmylou’s harmony singer of choice should tell you nearly all you need to know.
