"I Would Do Anything For Bottletree (But I Won't Do That)!"
As many of you know, a certain city institution has sadly left our dear friends at Bottletree high and dry. Lest we hipsters find ourselves without a venue to lord our status in, let us all band together and bid on silent auction items with proceeds going to Bottletree!
From sublime art to surreal interactions with some of the most notable of notorious notables in the Greater Metro area, everything you never knew you wanted will be available! Bid and bid heavily!
PS: There's a rummage sale in the afternoon and a benefit show that evening. You will be sure to enjoy the drunken tomfoolery that will spring forth from the stage as you are harassed into bidding higher and higher!

TORCHE / HARVEY MILK / ARCLIGHT
Torche unfurled their self-titled debut in 2005 via Richmond, Virginia’s Robotic Empire. The glorious half-hour of blissed-out power-grooves, triumphant vocal harmonies and cosmic resonance within was variously hailed as “stoner pop,” “thunder rock,” and “doom pop,” but a consensus was quickly reached within the Fourth Estate: Both the underground and mainstream press had their hands halfway down their pants just thinking about listening to Torche. The band was immediately lauded as giants among men, leaders among sheep, and powerbrokers of a deadly new sonic idiom founded upon Brooks’ signature “bomb-string” detonation-detune. As Decibel magazine so righteously pointed out in May of 2005, Torche “carries on in the dizzying Sabbathian tradition of Floor, only potentially more bottomless and epic.” Seven months later, the same publication would declare Torche as the # 7 album of the year in its annual top 40.
Tickets for this show are $10/12.
This show is for ages 18+. Doors at 8pm.

SECRET HISTORY PRESENTS: SWORN ENEMIES RECORD RELEASE SHOW w/ TATER FAMINE
Sworn Enemies is the Birmingham-based foursome of Adam Edwards, Wes Frazer, Jason Burns, and Byron Sonnier, a cajun transplant from Lake Arthur, Louisiana. Using a simple drum kit, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, clawhammer banjo, upright bass and a zydeco rubboard, Sworn Enemies calls upon their roots in the sounds of Alabama and Louisiana to deliver songs that range from upbeat, honky tonk slap-rhythm numbers to quiet, longing, frailing tunes. The band has been rambling their way across the Southeast, performing songs off of their self titled EP and rousing audiences into a footstomping, dancing frenzy!
Tickets for this show are $8. This show is for ages 18+.

SECRET HISTORY PRESENTS: THE CASTANETS / M.A. TURNER / NIGHTMARE WATERFALL
Castanets is American music drowned then reborn clear-eyed and wet with sea spray. Castanets is murderous nights and the 10 west sunset and crying gulls. Castanets is Raymond Raposa. Castanets is Raymond Raposa alone, walking through the dark and crowded dancefloor, singing bare voiced (rangy, high, cracked and real) with acoustic guitar. Castanets is a four-piece or a five-piece, six-piece, seven-piece, all-of-us-everywhere-piece stomping out electric tombstone chants or something that sounds like Pink Floyd with more heart. Castanets is delta heart, Nashville hands, outer space brain.
Castanets is banjo and strings of bells and howling feedback and high plains drifting and horn sections and brother folk-rock riding in a beater Datsun with sister free-jazz. What's on their radio? Harmonia? Dirty Projectors? Waylon and Willie?
The truth is in the breeze and in the agate blue sky and under the earth. Keep your eyes open. Keep your back strong.
This show is for ages 18+; Tickets are $8.

The band’s ultimate goal is to conquer the rock and roll scene, incorporating intense communication lyrically and sonically, yet still in a style that is familiar enough to capture the hearts of the masses.

THE PINE HILL HAINTS (RECORD RELEASE SHOW) w/ K. TAYLOR / ANDY DALE PETTY / WALKER YANCEY
The Prayers and Curses that were once known as songs continue to rise from the meditations of our hearts, and out of the crushed skull of North Alabama comes the Pine Hill Haints.
The sets never repeat, the songs always evolve and change, and the sound forever continues to adapt. The haints strive to capture the dark pulse that was once known and feared among people's, communities, and culteres, and this rambling, broken, and dead outfit seek to harness the madness of train jumping, lonesomeness, depression, ever lasting joy, and the final mystery of life and death.
Come out and celebrate with the Haints for their second full lenght album due out on K Records. APT will be filming and friends Taylor Hollingsworth and K. will be joining.
This show is for ages 18+; Tix $8.

SECRET HISTORY PRESENTS: ELENI MANDELL / JOHN P. STROHM
Teenagers. Those punk kids are nothing but trouble. Except when they help you write and record a great album. Myriad forces influenced Eleni Mandell in the making of her seventh full-length Artificial Fire: A long trek via two-lane, tree-lined highways through Oregon and Northern California; a dear friend with a hard-to-find shoe size; a pile of vintage T-shirts at a flea market. But an even bigger factor was the grownup artist getting back in touch with her Inner Teenager.
That youngster has been popping up a lot lately. You'll see her tearing up the floor when Mandell slaps 'Jessie's Girl,' the Cars, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs' 'Maps' on the stereo, and throws one of her living room dance parties. And she is a prime source of the enthusiasm coursing through these fifteen new originals, crafted by Mandell with assistance from her regular bandguitarist Jeremy Drake, bassist Ryan Feves, and drummer Kevin Fitzgeraldand co-producer Dave Trumfio.
This show is for ages 18+; Tickets are $10.
