SECRET HISTORY PRESENTS: QUINTRON / THOMAS FUNCTION / EDIE SEGDGWICK
Friday Nov 21, 2008 9:00 PM
Buy Tickets Online
Mr. QUINTRON is a very eccentric concert and nightclub organist from New Orleans, Louisiana. He plays music on a custom made Hammond / Rhodes combo synthesizer / organ (which he's got all built up to look like a car with real working headlights) backed by raw simple drum machine beats (think 808 boom chika boom through one BIG speaker with all the treble turned down) and his own patented invention THE DRUM BUDDY - a rotating, light-activated analog synthesizer which is played much in the same way that a DJ spins and scratches records Enough said.
This show is for ages 18+. Tickets are $10.

BottleTree is TWO YEARS OLD!!!
King Khan & BBQ Show, comprising Montreal-bred musicians Mark Sultan (BBQ) and Blacksnake (King Khan), are known for their riotous live show and eclectic mix of music that smashes together everything from punk rock to doo-wop. Their bio describes them as "Two guys. One smashing a snare, bass drum and tambourine with his bare feet, molesting his guitar and singing like a possessed angel. The other spinning and howling like a freak and belting it out on his guitar like a savage."
Sultan and Blacksnake played together in the Montreal band The Spacesh--s until the punk rockers toured Europe and Blacksnake decided to stay behind in Germany. Sultan moved on with Les Sexareenos and started his one-man band, BBQ, while Blacksnake started King Khan & The Shriners. The two later reunited as a duo, honing their craft with live shows around Germany and Spain, and releasing their self-titled debut in 2005.
This show is for ages 18+. Tickets are $10....AND YES, THERE WILL BE CAKE!

Like those bands, Wilderness deploy spacial, dream-like atmospheres and ominous ethereality over cymbals that shimmer and splash against tom-heavy drum patterns. Brooding, artstruck guitars ring out from the depths, echoing the swirling neo-psych of Echo and the Bunnymen and the Teardrop Explodes. But when frontman James Johnson breaks like headlights through the mist, the picture shifts from bliss-out watercolor to black-streaked oil canvas: Channeling the primal weirdness of a young David Byrne, or the unhinged pr | |
