Erik Griffin | 12:15 AM
Erik Griffin, a first generation Los Angeles born comedian/actor, is hard working, ambitious, talented, and most importantly “funny” to quote his mother. He has been performing comedy off and on for the past 12 years. Erik’s future looks very bright. Most recently he has obtained national exposure performing in the ALMA nominated Payaso Comedy Slam seen on the SHOWTIME and COMEDY CENTRAL networks, Live at Gotham on COMEDY CENTRAL, Last Comic Driving on NBC, Comics Without Boarders on SHOWTIME, nationally syndicated Comics Unleashed, and can be seen featured in several national commercials. He highlighted his talent in the 2008 at the Just For Laughs Montreal Comedy Festival to overwhelming reviews. Erik was featured at the 2008 NACA National Conference, the 2007 East Regional and 2006 NACA West Regional Showcases and has performed at several colleges nationwide. Besides opening for Dave Attel in Washington and Damon Wayans in Irvine California, Erik is now headlining all over the United States and Canada. Other accomplishments include winning the Northern Lights Comedy Contest, a semi- finalist in the 2005 International Seattle Comedy, attended the 5th & 6th Annual Calgary Comedy Festival as well as a runner-up in the 2005 Rocky Mountain Laugh- Off. With his multicultural background, a Central American Caribbean mother, a father of European descent, Erik blends well into the North American landscape particularly in this era of cultural diversity. Erik’s comedy is full of hilarious observations about life, love and self-evaluation bringing together all ages and ethnic backgrounds, which makes for an uproariously good time.

In 2008 Aron Kader became the first person to teach a comedy class in the Middle East. The festival was produced by the city of Amman along with co-producer Dean Obeidallah.

John Caparulo | 10:15 PM
John Caparulo was born and raised in East Liverpool, Ohio (with a 7-year stint in North Canton), and began his stand-up career in 1997. His sharp wit, unique delivery, and affinity for cuss words made him a crowd favorite right off the bat. After graduating from Kent State University, he left behind a lucrative career patching potholes to take his talent to the left coast. There he spent the next four years working the door at the world famous Comedy Store and cutting grass at a local golf course. Cap’s first big break came at the 2003 Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal, where he impressed the industry observers enough to offer him a sitcom deal. It was then he was able to trade in his weed-whacker for a microphone full-time. He then applied his blue collar work ethic to the stage, where he now performs nearly 365 nights a year. In recent years, Cap’s simple approach to life and comedy has landed him 3 appearances on The Tonight Show, a half-hour special on Comedy Central, and a spot on the Next Generation of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour (DVD in stores NOW!!). In 2008, Cap was featured as one of the four comedians on Vince Vaughn’s Wild West Comedy Show, which hit theaters in February and is now available on DVD. Steve Rannazzisi | 10:45 PM
"Nobody wants to hang around a smart-ass, Stephen."
That's what a Catholic schoolteacher told Stephen Rannazzisi growing up in Long Island New York. Stephen went on to prove her wrong by "hanging out" or "pissing off" many different celebrities on this season of PUNK'D.
Stephen grew up on Long Island, New York and graduated from a SUNY college with a degree in Theater. After graduation, he left Long Island to pursue the only career he was suited for--entertaining. Upon his arrival in the big city, Stephen got a job as a doorman at the world-famous Comedy Store on Sunset Boulevard. It was there that he honed his skills amongst some of the most prolific comics in the business, such as Eddie Griffin, Joe Rogan, and Andrew Dice Clay. And after winning over some of the toughest crowds in show business, Stephen would check id's at the door, answer phones in the office, and clean up vomit in the men's room. He also honed his craft of character acting at The Groundlings School and theater. All the hard work has started to pay off as the Hollywood industry has begun to take notice. Stephen was signed by top-level management and soon received his big break appearing as a cast member on MTV's PUNK'D.
"Great job!" said Ashton. "You really nailed it!!"
And, with the respect of his peers and an undying commitment to his craft, the future looks very bright for this talented young performer. |
Chris D'Elia | 11:00 PM
Chris was 16 the first time he performed stand-up comedy. He would act up in church, so the pastor told him he could do some time on stage afterwards if he behaved himself. Well he didn't behave, but was still allowed to get on stage in front of everyone.
Although his church performance was a success, it would be years later that D'Elia actually started a career in stand-up comedy. East coast born, West coast raised, Chris found himself in Los Angeles, on stage anywhere he could get up-- from local coffee shops to various hole-in-the-wall dive bars. Performing every night of the week, he quickly became a regular at all the clubs in Hollywood. Chris's silly, physical humor is what sets him apart from other comedians. Chris explains, "I never really feel like just standing there and telling jokes. I wanna move around. In fact, it's hard for me to write a joke where I don't end up on the ground for some reason. Hey... at least that way I know no comics will steal my shit. Too many bruises."
His comedy has an emphasis on characters, maybe because of his background in acting. Chris has guest starred on such shows as "Monk" and "Boston Legal", among others.
In 2008 Chris toured the United States with fellow comedian JoKoy. In 2009 you can catch Chris's act on Showtime's new upcoming series "Live Nude Comedy".

Ari Shaffir | 11:45 PM
Amongst other work, Ari Shaffir is probably most well known for a series of comedy works entitled The Amazing Racist (the title is a play on that of reality television show The Amazing Race). In these shorts the Amazing Racist is seen acting in a manner which is overtly and ironically racist. Shaffir filmed many of his offensive encounters for the DVD, National Lampoon’s Lost Reality. They were then ripped to the internet by hundreds of different nerds and then seen by millions of people. Watching the videos makes many people laugh and many people very angry. Ari gets death threats at least once a week and loves them all. If you haven’t seen the videos, Google him. And please don’t watch them at work because you’ll get fired. Ari has also been featured on the TBS show Minding the Store, ESPN Classic’s Cheap Seats, The Latino Laugh Festival on SiTV, has made a few appearances on the Opie and Anthony radio show (including the greatest day of radio of all time – The Baby Bird), and you probably have seen him on one of the many national commercials he has done over the years. Ari’s first love is standup, though, and he is a regular at all the major clubs in Los Angeles. For the last few years he has been touring nationally with Joe Rogan. Ari tends to describe his comedy as a puppet show, but way filthier and without the puppets. Ari wrote this biography, so every time it says “Ari did this” or “Ari did that” it’s really Ari writing it about himself. Ari feels like a tool for having done that. Please don’t come to the show if you’re easily offended or if you don’t like hearing Jews tell awful stories about sexual misconduct or if you hate fun. Everyone else, please do come.

Sam Tripoli | 12:30 AM (Sat Nov. 21)
Practitioner of the Deadly Art of Comedy. Sam Tripoli views comedy as a calling rather a profession. It's a passion that he's been preaching to audiences at comedy clubs across the country and on television, including Comedy Central's Premium Blend, (receiving only one of two standing ovations in the history of the show), a frolicsome turn as a male escort for E! Entertainment's Party @ the Palms, The Late Late Show on CBS, Comic Unleashed and as a co-host of Spike TV's Wide World of Spike, a comedy-action cult classic. On stage he's a force of nature, pacing the stage like a cyclone of funny as he questions authority and the conventions of our society one moment, then earnestly expresses his affinity for the bizarre the next. His comedy has no limits , its whatever he's thinking about, and that's usually what everyone else is thinking about, even though sometimes we don't like to admit to it. I like to think of myself as the little voice in everyone's head, except I have a microphone and I'm funnier,Sam says.
