Lynda Stipe-Vocals, Bass, Keys
Kevin Sims-Bass, Pedals
Charles Greenleaf-Drums, Percussives, Vocals
Richi Williams-Vocals, Guitars
Matt Tamisin-Giutars, Vocals

…Stipe's strength lies in the impact of her voice. It's been a constant throughout her artistic career, whether in early Athens pop act Oh-OK or in the artsy Hetch Hetchy. Seethru is the latest album from Flash to Bang Time. Says Stipe: "I can't seem to not do something. [Flash to Bang Time] is my favorite child, it's a real pretty child. To me, I continue to evolve towards simplicity."
-Chris Hassiotis

…“Reminiscent of Brian Eno's early material that often flouts convention while remaining undeniably engaging. Anchored by strong vocal male and female vocals.”
-DJ Kromatose

…Obscure Power-Pop + New Wave = Fast and slow melodies with dynamic tension. (past inclusions:Oh-OK, Hetch Hetchy, Commander Chameleon, Floorwalker) (see: Bush Tetras, Eno, Pylon)
-Flagpole Music Guide

…Flash to Bang Time have added Matt Tamisin and Richi Williams (formally of Commander Chameleon, current of the Shrinks) to their line up. Now the pedal boards rule as the audience can play a guessing game as to where the sound is coming from and who's making it. The sound is definitely more hard (early) Blondie meets Bush Tetras mixed with Buzzcocks with a dash of Beatles and a thimble of the Mothers of Invention.....

Supercluster | 11:00 PM
With a blast of creative energy fueled by an enthusiasm for making music together, a stellar combination of Athens, Georgia musicians formed SUPERCLUSTER, the brainchild of PYLON vocalist Vanessa Briscoe Hay and Hannah Jones of THE NEW SOUND OF NUMBERS. Spanning the history of Athens music from the early days of the B-52s and R.E.M. to the present, SUPERCLUSTER is a collaborative effort, featuring the talents of members of PYLON, THE OLIVIA TREMOR CONTROL/CIRCULATORY SYSTEM, DEERHUNTER, CASPER & THE COOKIES, THE NEW SOUND OF NUMBERS / SOUND HOUSES, INSTRUMENTS/GNARLS BARKLEY/LIL' WAYNE, and BOB HAY & THE JOLLY BEGGARS/ THE SQUALLS Descriptions of SUPERCLUSTER’s music range from trance/dance to "Appalachian Wave.," due in no small part to an eclectic combination of elements - three female vocalists, upbeat rhythms, violin, cello, mandolin, clarinets, acoustic guitar, keyboard, and angular electric guitar. This is the band that every musician in Athens wants to join, as evidenced by the inclusion of its two newest members, Heather McIntosh and Bryan Poole (B.P. Helium). McIntosh is best known for her performances with INSTRUMENTS, GNARLS BARKLEY , and LIL’ WAYNE. She plays cello on the new SUPERCLUSTER CD, Waves. Poole is a long-time member of OF MONTREAL. Although B.P. does not play on the CD, he made his first appearance as a member of the group when SUPERCLUSTER opened for the B-52s in Mableton, Georgia in August 2009. The new CD, Waves, is also one of the last documents of the guitar skills of Randy Bewley from PYLON, who passed away in February 2009. Bradford Cox, native Athenian and member of Atlanta band DEERHUNTER and a longtime fan of PYLON, stepped in to help SUPERCLUSTER finish the recording. The CD was recorded and mixed at Bel*Air Studios by producer Jason NeSmith of CASPER & THE COOKIES. NeSmith also assisted in laying down guitar tracks. In drawing from the support and love of the Athens music community, SUPERCLUSTER band members feel that Waves is, as Julie Phillips wrote in the Athens Banner-Herald, "a testament not only to Bewley's talent, but to the unit of the group as a whole, now without Bewley." As one example, the final recorded track on the CD came from a group jam that Bradford Cox suggested the band try while Jason NeSmith was preparing the studio for recording another song. Even without Bewley, the imaginative, playful side of the group continues to emerge. more >>>
