SECRET HISTORY PRESENTS: TORTOISE / DISAPPEARS
Almost alone among bands of the last two decades, Tortoise is a group that resists easy metaphors and analogies, who can be described as sounding like only themselves and no one else. Twenty years after its founding, the band’s signature and singularly inimitable sound—a fluid intersection of dub, dance, jazz, techno, rock, and classical minimalism, with no part overwhelming or dominating the whole—remains an American and international original. Further, while the group has spawned countless imitators, heirs, and followers—sincere, flattering, and otherwise—Tortoise remains unique in the world of contemporary music for their boundless intellectual curiosity, their unmistakable compositional voice, and their synthesis of seemingly contradictory sound worlds far from their doorstep.
Seriously, folks are talking about flying up for this show. Get your tickets while you can. This show will sell out.
Tickets are $15. This show is for ages 18+.

ROCK PAPER ROCK PRESENTS: SCREAMING FEMALES / JEFF THE BROTHERHOOD
Bred in one of the country’s strongest DIY punk communities, the New Brunswick, New Jersey-based trio Screaming Females have actually got only one shrieking lady. Her name is Marissa Paternoster, and she is 2009’s answer to Sleater-Kinney’s 2006 breakup, using her throaty pipes and serious chops to channel that trio’s femme-shredder legacy to a new generation. The band’s pint-size leader — whose signature stage attire includes a mandarin Sergeant Pepper-style dress and a bowl haircut covering her eyes — is known for ripping until her fingers bleed.
Also playing is Nashville's JEFF the Brotherhood. Another Be Your Own Pet spin-off band featuring brothers Jake and Jamin Orall. The Brotherhood has been called "kraut punk", "psychedelic grunge" and "noise pop" drawing comparisons to bands like Hawkwind, Wipers, and early Sonic Youth. Their frenetic live shows have earned them near legendary status in the clubs and basements across America.

SECRET HISTORY PRESENTS: COLOUR REVOLT / THE GRENADINES / ANDY'S TEA PARTY
Band bio for Colour Revolt which I don’t know how to write, and God knows I’m trying. Starting with the obvious: there’s a lot of guitars in Colour Revolt. But they’re not dumb guitars, that’s what I’m saying. It’s pretty sometimes, sure, but it doesn’t do to leave gorgeous alone, and sometimes you have to punch the blushing bride in the face, you the low-hearted puggish bridesmaid with nary a suitor. Ugly babies born with buck teeth which will fall out only to be replaced by wolf fangs. All of your children need braces, says Colour Revolt. All the dogs are better christians than we are. At best one can approximate the howl, but it isn’t worth much.
What I’m saying is, all your ugly babies will grow into baying canines who love Colour Revolt.
