Share This Event MAUM PRESENTS: WE ARE SCIENTISTS / DRINK UP BUTTERCUP / DJ COCO
Sometime agony uncles, sometime premier music makers, merging anthemic indie rock songcraft with some hilarious stunts. In the words of We Are Scientists, they create "rock music of the thoughtful, sometimes epic, often loud, vaguely danceable, implicitly humanist variety." How nice! Oh yeah, their shows sell out. Tickets for this show are $12/14. Ages 18+. Door at 8pm, show at 9pm.

Share This Event SECRET HISTORY PRESENTS: THE XX / JJ / NOSAJ THING
Bonding over a shared love of stripped back anti-folk and mid-90s R&B, The xx’s unique sound befits a wide range of influences that include everything from Aaliyaah to Cocorosie, Rhianna to The Cure, Missy Elliot to the Chromatics, The Kills to Ginuwine, The Pixies to Mariah Carey and Justin Timberlake to Tracey & The Plastics. These influences combine via beautiful, hushed vocal duets and a brilliantly inventive use of samplers and low-end frequencies to produce the stark, sweet melancholic pop of this debut single. Available on 7” vinyl, ‘Crystalised’ also features a cover of band favourite Aaliyah’s ‘Hot Like Fire’ on the b-side that further expands The xx’s hauntingly soulful sound. Both tracks are produced by the band themselves and engineered by Cocadisco’s Rodaidh McDonald. Doors at 8/ Show at 9 / 18 + / Tickets $12/14.

Sidewalk Film Fest Presents: House! How to describe Nobuhiko Obayahshi’s 1977 movie House? As a psychedelic ghost tale? A stream-of-consciousness bedtime story? An episode of Scooby Doo as directed by Dario Argento? Any of the above will do for this hallucinatory head trip about a schoolgirl who travels with six classmates to her ailing aunt’s creaky country home, only to come face to face with evil spirits, bloodthirsty pianos, and a demonic housecat. Never before released in the United States, and a bona fide cult classic in the making, House is one of the most exciting genre discoveries in years. $7 Members/Students. $8 General For tickets please visit:https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/100365

Share This Event BROKEN LETTERS / LEGION / 50 MINUTE HOURS / KOROVA
As some of you may or may not know, Bottletree's own Tina Pilgrim was the victim of a devastating home invasion a few weeks back. She, and her son blake, got damn near cleaned out. Things like this shouldn't happen to good folks like her. So, we're getting together for a night of music and drinking, to raise some funds to help her out. We've got a dynamite line-up of local bands set to play as well. Check it out: BROKEN LETTERS LEGION DEN OF LIONS 50 MINUTE HOUR KOROVA THE BARKER/JACKS SPACE CIRCUS. This is an 18 and up show, and cover is only $5! Yep! That's less than a dollar a band! Holy Guacamole! You'd be a fool and/or some kind of kook not to show up. Doors at 7 pm. Music at 8 pm.

Share This Event ROCK PAPER ROCK PRESENTS: HOCKEY / THE CONSTELLATIONS / THE POSTELLES
For a band that named its forthcoming Capitol Records debut album Mind Chaos, the collective thinking on modern dance-rockers Hockey is already crystal-clear: this is a band set for a worldwide breakout this year. Hockey played four hotly-anticipated gigs at the famed South By Southwest music festival in 2009, following a series of downtown Manhattan and Brooklyn shows that stoked a chorus of on-line cheers and a notice in Paste Magazine's 10 New Artists to Watch in 2009. Formed in Los Angeles five years ago by founders Ben Grubin, lead singer, and Jeremy "Jerm" Reynolds on bass, Hockey is now based in Portland, Oregon as a quartet with Brian White on guitar, and Anthony Stassi on drums. OPening the show is the ATL dance-soul explosion, The Constellations who recently opened for RJD2 at Bottletree, and NYC's "garage-bop" band, The Postelles! Doors at 8 / show at 9 18 and up Tickets are $8 adv / $10 d.o.s.

Share This Event CHRIS STAPLES / TBA
It's difficult to find much information, if any at all, on Chris Staples if you don't know where to look. As modest as they come, Chris is not new to the spotlight. Once the frontman for 238, and later his solo project Discover America, his career that has lasted for more than a decade makes him a well seasoned veteran.... Chris is on tour in support of his 2004 release 'Blackest Hair, Bluest Eyes'. In 2008, Matthew self-released The Fire EP, an eight song songwriter-distinctive collection recorded in thirty hours for $1,000. The record quickly caught the attention of Birmingham's Live 100.5 radio station, and, in a sense, brought Matthew back to those lonesome bunk bed nights. A guitar and a room. Honest, underdone, a doubting-Thomas authenticity and, yes, palpably melodic. "Pain and secrets," he calls the record. This show is for ages 18 and up. Tickets for this show are $8. Doors at 8pm; show at 9pm.
