Sensational Sounds of Motown
Friday May. 9, 2008 at 8:00 PM
| This is a special night of Motown and beach music for graduates and their parents to
dance and enjoy a concert together. By the time you experience the complete show presented by “The New Sensational Sounds of Motown,” you have my personal guarantee you will have kicked your shoes off, your jackets and ties will be cast to the wind, and you will be looking for the closest shower you can find. Although, having attended every show for the last 16 years, I must admit, you will look like you just stepped out of the shower - clothes and all!! |

Fat Man Presents... Venice Is Sinking with Deaf Judges, Casper & the Cookies, Fairmount Fair, Buddy System and Matias
Saturday May. 17, 2008 at 9:00 PM
| A dark jangle pop sound, sometimes like a sinister Galaxie 500, sometimes like a more upbeat Low, Venice Is Sinking has a trancey, dramatic, shoegaze quality that can just as flawlessly shift into an upbeat pop song, much in the same vein as Belle & Sebastian. Soft spoken words lead by mesmerizing viola solos are the frontline of this dreamy pop 5-piece that has been called "the perfect soundtrack for unexpected overcast days" by Pitchfork Media and "pop's long awaited changing of the guard" by Magnet. Though for the past few years the band's live show has been a mainstay in most Athens venues (playing a more diverse variety of venues than most bands in town), the band has been a bit in hiding lately from live audiences while traveling out of town to record their 2nd full-length CD, following 2006's "Sorry About The Flowers" released by One Percent Press. Catch them live now before they go back into hiding. |

Holman Autry Band
Saturday May. 31, 2008 at 9:00 PM
| Holman Autry Band - a little bit of Hank, a little bit Metallica, and a healthy dose of "Southern Rock" and "Classic Rock" - that is all a part of the Holman Autry Band sound. If you like Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers, and Gov’t. Mule, you are sure to love the Holman Autry Band. They have been playing all over the State of Georgia and have been welcomed everywhere, and are making so many new friends and fans alike. Practice for these guys takes place on Holman Autry Road. The road gets its name from the 2 original families that purchased the property many years ago. The lead guitar player is a great-grandson to the Autry family. Whether you call it Southern Rock or Country they’ve got what it takes. The debut album on CD, self titled “Holman Autry Band”, was released in April of 2007. Their favorite pastime is performing live on stage. They practice a lot and tend to spend a lot of time together just hanging out. |
