CARL LABOVE featuring Tom McClain
November 27 - November 29, 2009

CARL LABOVE

Carl LaBove brings Physical comedy to a new level. His style is uniquely his own and the second his foot hits the stage he owns the room. His act centers around a unique storytelling style in which he incorporates quick witted improvisation with physical reenactments of his tales. It can be said he is a combination of both performance art and stand up comedy.

In the sixth grade he told his mother that he wanted to be a stand up comic. His first performance was at an open mike night in Houston at the age of nineteen. That was the night he would meet another young aspiring comedian who was also performing for the first time Sam Kinison. Little did they know that their lives would be forever entwined together in the world of stand up comedy.

Carl and Sam ate, drank and slept comedy for the next seven years, moving from Houston to Los Angeles together and working at the world famous "Comedy Store" as doorman. Sam's big break came on Rodney Dangerfield's HBO Special. Sam Kinison soon became a comedy sensation and he and Carl joined forces. Carl became the special guest on all tours and collaborated on three albums and several specials. They formed the Outlaws of Comedy a brand of comedic outlaws both on and off the stage. The two lived every comics dream performing at rock clubs amphitheaters and sold out arenas for the next eight years.

The friendship and collaboration tragically ended in April 1992 when Sam and Carl were in route to a gig in Laughlin Nevada. Sam was injured in a car accent and shortly died, as he had lived, with his best friend Carl LaBove at his side.

After taking a year off to regroup, Carl's solo career came roaring back, with four appearances on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, The Dennis Miller Show. He was cast as a regular on Rosanne's late night comedy show, Saturday Night Special and guest stared on Seinfeld, Roseanne and The Parenthood. He was in the movies Ace Ventura, Jumping Jack Flash and Pauly Shore is Dead to name just a few. He performs regularly at the top comedy venues through out the world including Catch A Rising Star in Las Vegas and Reno. He participated in the feature film "Sam Kinison: Why did we Laugh" and has released two cd's called "I Used To Be An Outlaw: What Happened?" and DVD "Carl LaBove A night at the Frolic". We hope you enjoy this comedy video of Carl LaBove. If you ever get the chance to see him live run don't walk to see this comic legend perform the craft that he has taken to it's highest plain.

TOM MCCLAIN

Comedian Tom McClain is probably best known as the larger than life, hard hitting funnyman from Sacramento. His trademark Football Jersey and backwards ball cap lend no indication to his intelligent thought provoking humor. His razor sharp material along with his exceptionally quick wit tantalizes audiences from beginning to end. Within the first few minutes, the audience feels like they have known Tom for years.

Tom draws from his many rich life experiences to relate to his
audiences. Whether he is discussing growing up in one of Sacramento’s roughest neighborhoods or fulfilling his 4 year military commitment, audiences get a clear image of where Tom came from. He has a unique ability to share the most intimate details of his current marriage and his past relationships.  Often described as “Everyone’s Favorite Drinking Buddy”, Tom has an uncanny ability to draw out the fun loving, often immature adult in all of us.

Professionally, Tom is making an impact on the local and
national scene. Tom has appeared on a number of CBS Television Network hit shows like “CSI: New York”, “Without a Trace”, “Shark”, and the short-lived “Viva Laughlin”.  He performed in front of over 17,000 rabid Kings Fans as a part of an NBA Pre-game show at Sacramento’s Arco Arena.
