 The Sensational Sounds of Motown have been entertaining audiences throughout the Southeast for nearly 18 years with their excellent, high-energy performances. Crowds can’t get enough, and the band gets asked back to play time and time again.
A dynamic live act since 1991, SSOM presents its audience with a high-energy, high-quality performance. Top notch musicianship is coupled with amazing stage presence to provide an unforgettable experience for many festivals, social, and civic events in and around Georgia. The band is comprised of six, veteran musicians with an impressive list of touring and performance credits under their belts.
Incomparable lead vocalist Henry “Mr. Motown” Sanders is the anchor of the group, providing a classic soul sound that’s impossible to distinguish from the original artist’s recordings. You’ll hear Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, and Sly Stone... and that’s just in the first set! Backing “Mr. Motown” are Scott Moody - drums, vocals, Harry Lee Hopkins - guitar, vocals, Jason Fuller - keyboards, vocals, Dan Roth - keyboards, vocals, Stephen Spivey - bass guitar. The combined talent in this group of musicians is second to none. Tight, 3-part harmonies and incredible musical arrangements are the band’s trademark, guaranteed to evoke memories of the hottest ensembles in soul, Motown, and funk music.
Sensational Sounds of Motown play a majority of their shows for private clients (though they have appeared at several regional and beach music festivals), which makes this evening’s performance a rare treat for their hometown Athens crowd.
