Back Row Baptists | 10:30 PM
When asked why Birmingham singer/songwriter Chris Porter assembled the back Row Baptists his reply is simple, and direct. "I wanted to make something real." After years of consistent touring and recording with his alt-country bar burners, The Stolen Roses, Porter seems to have finally found his voice. "I'm sick of the lack of substance in country music! There has been so much heartache and turmoil to hit the Gulf Coast in the last decade its hard to believe that there hasn't been an honest voice to rise from the rubble."

The Back Row Baptists are a collection of reluctant troubadours straight from The Magic City, who's musical roots are as deep as the iron buried in its soil. Sarah Green (The Sunday Lovers, The Good Neighbors, and formerly of the Contraband) holds down duties as vocalist, drummer, and band parole officer. Handling the task of providing the soul and wisdom that only he can, Heath Green's duties include vocals, piano, harmonica, and bartender. Next comes the incomparable Jay Taylor on the upright bass guitar, Susan Nuckols (the contraband, Blue Galaxy, Wayne Newton, Neil Diamond, and God knows who else) on the fiddle, and the sonic insanity of Adam Guthrie (PAIN, The Wayne Mills Band and the Starmakers) and his Ukulele the Baptists have a sound and a show to be reckoned with.

The Back Row Baptists will be touring in support of there freshman release "Me and the Devil" throughout the year, and they will be looking to release a new full length record before the summer comes down hard on Birmingham Alabama. more >>>

The Corduroy Road | 11:30 PM
Since its inception by Drew Carman and Dylan Solise in early 2006, The Corduroy Road has melded bluegrass, Americana, folk rock, and old-time country with the rawest of live performances. The two, born and raised in the Central Kentucky Bluegrass Region where they learned their craft, now reside in the musical gem of the southeast: Athens, GA.

With the addition of John Cable on drums, Elijah NeeSmith on bass, and Cameron Thomas on electric guitar, The Corduroy Road quickly gained a reputation in Athens as an up and coming band on the scene after sharing the stage with such notable bands including The Avett Brothers, Paleface, The Packway Handle Band, Ian Thomas, Langhorne Slim, Trampled by Turtles and more.

Athens Banner Herald called them “bluegrass rockers…influenced by old time country and Americana, while the live performances exude the energy of punk rock.”

In November of 2008, The Corduroy Road entered the studio of local legend John Keane (Widespread Panic, REM, BR549, Uncle Tupelo) to record their debut LP, Love Is a War released in Summer 2009. The title track appeared on the AthFest 2009 compilation CD that is released each year on Ghostmeat Records in conjunction with the prestigious arts and music festival, AthFest. After an exciting and fruitful summer, the band continues to tour the southeast with plans of expanding into even more new regions in 2010. more >>>
