JK started singing at 24 years old while drivin' a semi truck delivering rock and septic tanks in the mountains of Northern California. He sang in a band with his brother called Troubleshooter before joining Frank and Brian in 1983 in their cover band called "City Kidd". He was born in Texarkana and grew up and graduated in Idabel Oklahoma, majoring in FFA (Future Farmers of America) before moving back to Georgetown Ca, a small mountain town in the Sierras. JK won a singing contest and was introduced to the guys through some friends who knew the band. Despite his lack of experience at the time, it was his unique and raspy voice that caught the band's ear. JK is a huge country music fan and is working in his spare time in Nashville with George Jones's band making his solo country album. JK is an avid lover of animals and has a huge heart for rescuing homeless animals. One day, when walking into an Oakland Raiders game, a starving dog was wandering the parking lot looking for food and JK decided to skip the game and take him home. A short time later, when the band was recording the Real to Reel album in Texas, JK discovered a homeless mother dog with puppies, and he drove them all the way to his home in CA. These acts of love were recognized by ARF (Animal Rescue Foundation) and JK received the "evie" award for his efforts. The dogs' names are "Okie" "Cali" and the pups. They are happy and healthy today.

Frank started playing guitar at the age of 10, after breaking his leg on a dirt bike and playing guitar all summer long in a leg cast. His main influences are 70’s rock guitar players such as Peter Frampton, Joe Walsh, Ted Nugent, Rick Derringer as well as 60’s artist like Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin. Growing up in South Sacramento, Frank lived about 1 mile from Brian Wheat and played in a band as a 13 year old guitar wiz doing Hendrix covers before teaming with Brian at 15 yrs old to form “Earthshaker”, their first band that got into the local club scene. Frank and Brian have played together for over 25 years and they currently co-manage TESLA and all their productions. Recording their song demos on a 4 track tape machine, he made the early demos for the band’s first album. Frank loves many eclectic styles of music including blues, prog jam, funk, jazz, metal and country and tries to incorporate them into his playing. In his free time Frank enjoys time outdoors, spending time with his wife Christy riding horses, cooking dinners and raising their 3 kids.

Brian grew up the youngest of 6 kids in the hood of South Sacramento, CA. While his older brothers cranked up hard rock records ala Humble Pie and Cream, Brian had a huge love for the Beatles and would steal their records from his brothers' collections. Brian started playing bass at 14 years old. His main musical influence is Paul McCartney as well as Jimmy Page, but he also has strong political views and states General George S. Patton as an influence. Brian was very close to his Mom and is a natural born leader of business affairs. Brian is an avid baseball player and he played catcher's position up to his high school league. Brian decided to switch to playing music full time after the coaches said he couldn't make it to pro ball because of his size, despite his talents for the game. Brian still plays in men's hardball leagues as well as racquetball, biking and kayaking. Brian loves music production and owns a state of the art recording studio where TESLA records. His other interests include Barbequing, Cooking, and traveling to Europe for the holidays with his wife Monique. Together they live in a 120 year old Victorian house. Brian says that it is his experience as a catcher and his love of General Patton that helps him manage the band.

Troy started playing drums at 10 years old and was influenced by Mitch Mitchell of the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Troy has a wide variety of musical tastes and loves Creedence Clearwater Revival, Neil Diamond, Led Zeppelin, and Latin style percussion. His other drumming influences include John Bonham, Ian Paice, Jeff Porcaro, David Garibaldi, and The Godfather Steve Gadd. Troy grew up in the east San Francisco bay area playing in bands such as Whisper, Benny and the Jets, 415 and the Eric Martin Band before joining TESLA in 1985. Troy plans on moving to Nashville TN soon, and enjoys going to lake with his wife and daughter. Troy's son, Troy Jr. is also a fantastic drummer. Troy also produces other artists and plays drums on recording sessions in the studio with artists like Ronnie Montrose, Marc Bonilla and others. Troy and his wife Phyllis are very active with charity benefits with their non-profit organization called “Wake up to Love”. They are responsible for many charitable fundraising events.

Dave started playing guitar at 9 years of age and grew up near Berkeley California. His main musical influences are Guns and Roses, Slash, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Joe Perry, Mike Campbell, and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Living in the east SF bay area, Dave attended SFSU college for his history major, but decided to pursue his music career instead. As it turns out Dave was a huge fan of TESLA’S “5 Man Acoustic Jam” album when he was a kid, but it was Guns and Roses’ “Appetite for Destruction” that made him want to rock and be the axe shredder he is today. Dave played in the band called “The Servants” around the San Francisco club scene, before starting his own solo band aptly called “The Dave Rude Band.” That’s when he was discovered by Frank on his myspace.com page and then joined TESLA in 2006 for the “Electric Summer Jam” tour. His first studio experience with TESLA was recording the critically acclaimed “Real to Reel” covers album. The new album “Forever More” will be Dave’s first studio album of all original music with TESLA. His positive energy and undeniable talent on the guitar has proven to be a burst of greatness for TESLA. more >>>
